Hi there, I'm Karuna! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the field of social services for over 21 years now and loved every moment of it. I am here to help you navigate through difficult life situations and gain coping skills that you need to succeed and reach your full potential. I work with client's facing challenges at work, in relationships and in life in general. I assist you to refocus your energy into yourself by prioritizing self compassion and self care.

I have always felt an innate connection to people, listening to them, helping them to solve their problems has given me a deep sense of purpose. 

How wonderful that I was able to turn this passion into a full time profession!

I want people to feel heard, loved, wanted and be ready to take on the world free from their worst fears and anxieties, free from their unwanted negative thoughts. Imagine how great that would feel? Well it is very possible and you can achieve all of this by making use of my counselling and psychological expertise on a variety of issues and topics. 

Life is challenging, and as a professional therapist I can help make things better, transitions and conversations go smoother and challenges easier to adjust to.

My Approach

I use a solution focused and strength-based approach that is real world and practical.

Exploring your history, past and present traumatic events and even how you were parented and what your childhood was like (Attachment-Based Therapy) is the key to healthy relationships. 

I am a big believer in the link between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and this is where the cognitive behavioral approach comes in. We will work together to target the negative or distorted thinking patterns you may have fallen into and change this into a more positive view of looking at things. 

Why these two approaches in particular?

Because they are evidence based, simple to understand and easy to use for you, the client. 

We will also work together on mindfulness techniques, finding a healthy balance in all aspects of your life and understanding the mind body connection and what that means for you specifically. 

My Focus

Whilst providing short term relief, I like to focus on providing you with long term solutions that will help you to overcome any challenges you face confidently. 

As human beings we are all faced with stress, anxiety, sadness, trauma, feelings of stagnancy, being lonely, misunderstood and overlooked.  We will address these in a healthy way, restoring hope and happiness along the way.

I have been told that some of my strengths are my compassionate nature and my ability to be empathetic towards others.

I always look to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients while being open and honest. 

In being client centric, my approach is one where we review what is working or not together and make improvements to best help you!

My Journey

Since I was a young child, I was always told I was a good listener and problem solver and I am here to guide you, problem solve and support you. In short, I am here to help you make changes to "live your best life." Oprah's words, not mine. My cultural background and my love for travel has exposed me to people all over the world and this is what helps me to connect with people like yourself.
